PROJECT PLANNING

A collaborative effort between client, designer and contractor. This is where the ground work is laid for a successful, positive experience. We take the hard work done by both the client and our design team, and begin the process of implementing it. By the end of this process, we will have nailed down start dates, timelines, finishes, budget and all of the administrative work and be armed with a rock solid plan to execute the task of realizing your dreams!

Typically project planning takes between 4-6 weeks but this depends on the size of project, scope of work, permit requirements, client clarity and much more. It is hard to give a concrete number without knowing details of a prospective renovation because of the diverse variability that comes with each individual project.

WHAT DOES PROJECT PLANNING ENTAIL?

PERMITS + DRAWINGS

Depending on the scope of your project, permit drawings and applications will most likely be required. We work with skilled BCIN professionals, architects and engineers to create the best space for you and your functional needs, while respecting all building code requirements.

INTERIOR DESIGN PLAN

If you choose to work with our design team (which we ALWAYS encourage), this is the time where they show off. Our design team works diligently to design your plan while simultaneously working with our contracting team to plan all of the steps required to bring it to life.

BUDGET PLANNING

This is a much more involved activity than you may think. Clients often come into a project with a budget in mind but don’t always understand what this includes. We work with you to create the most accurate budget possible, ensuring that you are educated and informed of any potential changes. Confirming as many details about a project during the planning period is imperative for accurate budgeting.

MATERIAL SOURCING

Working closely with our design team, we nail down all materials and finishes for your project. By having these items, or as many as possible, picked before the project even begins allows us to proactively plan any special installation requirements and build a much more accurate budget. We also like to do this ASAP to ensure all materials are available when we need them, ensuring maximum efficiency.

PROACTIVE PROBLEM SOLVING

With adequate project planning we are able to proactively plan for potential conflicts or problems resulting in a much easier, less stressful scenario in the future when they arise. We can take the time to think ahead, estimate potential issues and plan accordingly…. before they even happen!

SCHEDULING

For a project to run smoothly, scheduling is imperative. There are a lot of moving pieces so we build out a skeleton schedule to give us a template in which we can build off of as the project progresses. Changes are inevitable but building a preliminary schedule during the project planning stage can help us keep things on track.
